Development of the former Eldridge Pope brewery has brought a once in a lifetime chance for the town to acquire a state of the art venue for performing and visual arts.
The former Maltings will be converted into a centre for arts organisations and 440 seat auditorium plus a gallery showcasing Dorset artists, a dance school, studio and more.
The building is being given by the Brewery Square developers to a new Maltings Trust, but some £7 million is needed to convert and equip it.The project is fully supported by a great many organisations and individuals across Dorset and it is hoped that it will be completed in time for the Olympic events in South Dorset in 2012.
